When starting a new business many entrepreneurs are perplexed with the many different options available to get their business name out to customers in order to generate sales. Since President Trump signed the Farm Bill into law legalizing Hemp and some aspects of CBD today we will use this sector as our example for this blog. First, let’s look at the different marketing options business are presented with getting their products out to the masses.
The above chart from local search engine associating shows that 65 percent of customers find businesses using search engines whether that be Google, Bing, Yahoo, and the other smaller search engine companies. Think about how you research when you are looking for a business. Where would be the first place you looked when looking for hemp CBD oil? Just by casually looking at the chart the average entrepreneur should understand that it is critical to be able to be found on Google
Which Search Engine Get’s the Most Traffic?
You may see other statistics that say Bing and others have 15 to 20 percent of the market share but when you actually look at the data from an SEO Consultants view you will see that Google gets around 90 to 95 percent of the traffic. With the following
Golden Data That Google Provides For Free.
When you spend marketing dollars on TV, radio, billboards and other media besides search engines it is difficult to calculate your return on investment unless you keep track of how new customers discovered your business. Using Google Webmaster and Google my business a lot this data is provided to you for free. Here are a few examples.
From the following chart provided by
In the above chart, we get a snapshot of some of the top keywords that customers are using to find one of our client’s local businesses. The first column represents the number of clicks to the site for a particular keyword. The second column is the number of impressions that were generated. An impression is when a search customer sees your business name but doesn’t click on your website. This data is critical because it can give you clues how to adjust your SEO tactics to capture additional business. For example, I see that Sunday Driver Strain was shown to customers over 12,000 times yet I only got 157 clicks. As an SEO consultant, I would recommend the client build an entire page dedicated to that marijuana strain in order to rank higher for that keyword and generate more conversions.
The Keywords that you get the most clicks are called long tail keywords. These are words like Marijuana, Dispensary Near Me, Weed Shop. These short words account for only 30 percent of all searches. 70 percent of all other keyword searches are called long-tail keyword searches. As a matter of fact, 30 percent of the searches per day are keywords that Google has never seen before. The way you capture this hugely profitable 70 percent is to have good content on your website. By reading this free data from Google you can adjust your marketing strategy to bring in more revenue. You can not get this kind of data from any other marketing source. This is just a small percentage of valuable information you get for free from Google Console, next
Google My Business Reports
One of my favorite business reports is the customer actions reports. This shows the number of visits to your websites, how many customers called you, how many customers requested directions and how many messaged you if you have the messaging option setup. For this above client in one month 3,000 customers visited their site, 2000 customers requested directions to the business and 809 customers called the business directly from Google. Google calculates these numbers when a customer clicks the following buttons in the image below. Note: Normally there is a button to call the business but since I’m in another country writing this white page google translate is not picking it up properly. I normally calculate a direction request as a NEW CUSTOMER, because if the customer allready had been to your location they wouldn’t normally need directions. If your average profit per customer is 8 dollars and Google is bringing you an average of 2000 customers ever 30 days and that doesn’t include the many more customers who don’t click that button you are profiting off Google at 16,000 per month. And that is if the customer never comes back and only makes one purchase.
The next My Business report shows you what zip codes your customers are coming from. This allows you to selective GEO-Target nearby cities if you are a local business. This is especially critical in the marijuana CBD industries where local cities ban stores. Using Isenselogic.com custom SEO techniques we can make your business not only show up in your city but surrounding cities. If you are located in Seattle that has 50 stores and there is a city 10 miles away that has a ban you would be light years ahead of your competittioon by targeting those dry cities.
In the above chart, the business is located in Tacoma which allows recreational marijuana stores. The interesting part is most of their customers are coming from the city of Lakewood which has a ban on Weed Shops. Again I can not stress how valuable this data is for your future marketing strategy and the only way you can get this data is by having a competent SEO consultant to help your business take advantage of the free information provided by Google.
